About Sophie's Journey

We run the charity to fulfill our promise to Sophie to make a positive difference to those going through a similar experience and give them the same opportunity we had to enjoy a holiday and create special memories together.

Our first caravan was opened in March 2017 and features a twin bedroom, double bedroom, plus an open plan living/kitchen area and family bathroom, while our second caravan is fully adapted for children who have extra mobility needs owing to their treatment.

​

We officially opened this in April 2018, after reaching our fundraising target earlier that year.    

​

The charity also exists to continue Sophie’s efforts to provide comfort and support to children enduring cancer treatment via a dedicated page on Facebook. This was created after Sophie had undergone brain surgery and was due to begin treatment; she wanted to understand what to expect from it but couldn’t find any sources on the internet that answered her questions.

​

The Facebook page became a way for Sophie to document her own experience and help other children like her and their parents.

​

While she was receiving treatment at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, and because she didn’t want anyone else to have to endure the same thing, Sophie began fundraising for the Children’s Brain Tumour Research Centre. In just under two years we raised £50,000 and Sophie inspired others to get involved.

​

In memory of Sophie, her wonderful smile and her amazing spirit and inspiration, Sophie’s Journey is here to help children remember what it’s like to be children.

​

If you are part of a family living in Lincolnshire who has a child receiving treatment for cancer, or have lost a child to cancer, then you could be eligible for a week’s free holiday courtesy of Sophie’s Journey.

​

You can apply through a Clic Sargent social worker or your community nurse. Once we have received your application we’ll be in touch to arrange a convenient date for your holiday. We’ll also provide all the information, advice and practical support you’ll need while you’re away.  

​

Sophie’s Journey relies on donations to maintain its caravans and ensure guests have the best holiday possible. If you’d like to donate, you can do so via the JustGiving page.
